met with a delegation led by European Union Envoy Amb. Karin Johansson who was on a working trip to Hargeisa.

Mr Irro was accompanied by senior Waddani Party officials including: Deputy Chair Dr. Mohamed Abdullahi Omar, Secretary-General Khadar Hussein Abdi, Assistant to Mr Irro's Assistant Abdulkadir Salah Idle, and senior Waddani Party member Dr Mohamed Osman Fadal.

Amb. Johansson was accompanied by Caroline Adriensen, head of development cooperation and Adnan Hagog, head of development cooperation at Somaliland office.

Discussions between the two sides focused on preparations for the 2024 Somaliland elections, which is now entering the final weeks, as well as regional security and stability in the Horn of Africa.

Mr. Irro praised the EU for its long-running support for Somaliland’s democratization and elections process.
